Principal’s October Message

Greetings NAHS Families and Community,

October is here, and with it comes an exciting season of growth, learning, and school spirit at Norristown Area High School! The energy in our halls is contagious as students settle into their routines, teachers dive deep into instruction, and our fall activities are in full swing.

This month, we continue to focus on academic excellence and community engagement. Our classrooms are alive with rigorous learning, and students are demonstrating leadership through clubs, athletics, and service opportunities. We are proud of the positive momentum surrounding our PBIS initiatives and the continued focus on creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for every Eagle.

October also brings several highlight such as college and career readiness events, homecoming celebrations, student leadership meetings, and the kick-off of fall sports playoffs. Each of these moments reminds us of the pride and tradition that define Norristown.

As always, thank you for your ongoing partnership. Together, we are building a culture of achievement, respect, and Eagle pride. Let’s make this month another step forward in our journey toward excellence.

With Eagle Pride,
Dr. Detrick McGriff
Principal, Norristown Area High School

MTSS in Motion

We are at a critical point in the school year when we review data and make important decisions about interventions and supports for our learners. The 3 A’s (listed to the right) guide our MTSS framework by promoting structured meetings and actionable plans. Throughout the building, educators are analyzing data and engaging in meaningful conversations to move student learning and achievement forward.

Parents can also support their young scholars by reviewing Quarter 1 Grades (Academics), Daily and class (Attendance), and engage their child in conversation. Infinite Campus can provide families with solid information to inform decisions on how to support learning best.

It's also important to note that Quarter 1 ends on October 31, 2025.

9th Grade Community & Activities Fair Connects Freshmen to School and Community

Norristown Area High School recently hosted its annual 9th Grade Community & Activities Fair, welcoming the Class of 2029 with opportunities to explore clubs, programs, and community partnerships.

Held in the school commons, the event featured student organizations, local nonprofits, and civic partners sharing ways for freshmen to get involved and make meaningful connections. Students engaged with representatives from athletic teams, cultural clubs, and community agencies, discovering ways to build leadership skills and strengthen their sense of belonging.

Faculty and student leaders guided participants through the fair, encouraging each freshman to join at least one activity that matched their interests. The event highlighted Norristown’s commitment to helping every student feel connected, supported, and proud to be an Eagle

Central Montco Technical High School 9th Grade Immersion Trip

This year, 9th grade students are being immersed in the many opportunities available to them at Norristown Area High School.

Norristown proudly partners with CMTHS, sending several hundred students each year to pursue specialized programs. While the opportunities are vast, space is limited.

CMTHS encourages students to complete three years in their chosen programs to earn certifications and graduate career-ready.

That’s why ninth-grade immersion is so important—it helps students explore their interests early and select a focused program by sophomore year.
